Cancelled - IRR CLM819 New DN for Employee Deceased Indicator on FROI and SROI
Business Requirement / Issue: When a claim involves the death of a claimant, whether it is related to the injury or not, needs to be reported immediately to the Jurisdiction in order for the appropriate handling of the claim or any communications be addressed with the proper amount of respect.
Requester's Proposed Resolution: Add a new DN Employee Deceased Indicator to the FROI and SROI.
Note: This IRR was discussed at the 7/19/17 claims committee meeting. At that meeting several claim administrators commented that should this data element be added to the standard, it would likely be defaulted to yes or no based on the presence of Date of Death adding no value to the standard. Some agreement was had by Jurisdictions as well. Based on this information a poll was conducted via Doodle to determine who would support the addition of a new DN for Employee Deceased Indicator. There were a total of 37 responses with 4 in favor. Due to the 11% in favor of a new DN it is the Claim Committee's decision to close the IRR with no action taken at this time. There is not enough value to warrant this DN to be added to the standard.
