Voting Results - IRR CLM880 Recognize Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN)
Business Requirement / Issue: Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) is not recognized as a valid value for EMPLOYEE ID TYPE QUALIFIER (DN0270).
Final Proposed Resolution: Create a new DN for ITIN and corresponding code value.
DN0437 has been assigned to new Employee ID - Employee Individual Taxpayer Identification Number
Employee ID Type Qualifier code "T" (taxpayer) has been assigned to the new ID number. "T" was assigned because "I" could be mistaken as a 1 (one)

There is a new qualifier being proposed to be added to DN270. Along with the qualifier, there is a new field to hold the ITIN if that new qualifier is used. It's the same as how the other qualifiers work. For example, if G is sent in DN270 to indicate Green Card, then the Green Card number is retrieved from DN153. If the new qualifier for ITIN is sent in DN270 (we don't know the code that will be used yet), the ITIN will be retrieved from the new data element field that is being proposed. Does this help to clarify?
