DN0437 has been assigned to new Employee ID - Employee Individual Taxpayer Identification Number

Employee ID Type Qualifier code "T" (taxpayer) has been assigned to the new ID number.  "T" was assigned because "I" could be mistaken as a 1 (one)

The voting period for this IRR has begun and will extend through 1/23/19. A ballot for this IRR was sent to the voting body via email on 1/3/19. The voting body is comprised of current IAIABC jurisdictional and EDI members in good standing. Each eligible organization is allowed one vote per IRR. It is the responsibility of the designated voter (or the alternate, if the designated voter is not available) to discuss the issue up for vote with all stakeholders within their organization and vote accordingly.

There is a new qualifier being proposed to be added to DN270.  Along with the qualifier, there is a new field to hold the ITIN if that new qualifier is used.  It's the same as how the other qualifiers work.  For example, if G is sent in DN270 to indicate Green Card, then the Green Card number is retrieved from DN153.   If the new qualifier for ITIN is sent in DN270 (we don't know the code that will be used yet), the ITIN will be retrieved from the new data element field that is being proposed.  Does this help to clarify?

Hello - Cheryl Keyes nor I recall the explanation on why the solution is to have a new DN created as opposed to have a new qualifier added to DN0270?  I apologize for any repeat info someone has to provide; I've reviewed the comments and notes but didn't find anything.  Based on what I am seeing thus far, Sedgwick is not in favor of a new DN vs. adding a new qualifier to DN0270.  Rationale is so Employee ID types stay together and consistent to document for the end users.  I am of course willing to change our position based on clarification.  Thanks!
